Sanbao: A Luxurious Yacht Interior

Exploring the Beauty of the Seas in Style

The Sanbao yacht interior, designed by David Chang, combines elegance and functionality to create a truly unique and luxurious experience on the open waters.

The inspiration for the Sanbao yacht interior comes from the historical voyages of the Sanbao eunuch through the Southeast China Sea to the western world. Zheng He's famous expeditions served as the backdrop for this design, with Ma Sanbao, Zheng Yuan's name, being the inspiration behind the project. Zheng He's fleet embarked on seven trips, visiting over 30 countries and regions in Southeast Asia, South Asia, the Arab world, and East Africa, covering a staggering distance of over 100,000 miles.

What sets the Sanbao yacht interior apart is its sheer size and opulence. Measuring 77.5 meters in length and 14 meters in width, this super yacht is a testament to Chinese design prowess. It is the first Chinese design studio to participate in the creation of a super yacht above 75 meters. The Sanbao's remarkable achievements were showcased at the prestigious Monaco Yacht Show in 2018.

The realization of the Sanbao yacht interior required careful consideration of various factors. The design seamlessly blends modern style with practicality, showcasing a desire for exploration, curiosity, and a rich life. The curved surfaces, space modeling, metal structure, assembled decoration, and long-term durability at sea were all taken into account during the design process. Soft curves were used to model the walls, roofs, and floors, creating a harmonious flow throughout the yacht.

Technical specifications of the Sanbao yacht interior include a total area of 960 square meters, an overall length of 77.5 meters, an overall beam of 13 meters, and varying heights ranging from 2.23 to 2.69 meters. These dimensions provide ample space for guests to relax and enjoy their time on board.

The Sanbao yacht interior offers a unique interaction between its occupants and the surrounding environment. The use of wood creates a warm and inviting atmosphere, counterbalancing the coolness of the sea. Light gray colors are used extensively, enhancing the sense of transparency and brightness while maintaining a high level of quality. This combination creates an environment that promotes relaxation and rejuvenation.

The Sanbao yacht interior project commenced in May 2018 and was completed in September of the same year. The design team faced numerous challenges, including determining the hull structure, enclosure location, usable areas, and low ceiling height utilization. Additionally, the design had to consider future processing and on-site assembly, simplification of molding, and the use of large area window openings to maximize the external landscape and viewing angles.

As a luxury yacht project, the Sanbao yacht interior showcases a rounded shape that mirrors the yacht's exterior. The entire interior is constructed with circular surfaces, creating a sense of embracing the yacht, the sky, and the ocean. The design is refreshing in its color palette, further enhancing the overall experience.

The Sanbao yacht interior, designed by David Chang, is a true masterpiece that combines elegance, functionality, and a deep appreciation for the beauty of the seas. Its unique design and attention to detail have earned it the Bronze A' Design Award in the Yacht and Marine Vessels Design category in 2019. This prestigious award recognizes the exceptional creativity and resourcefulness of the design, as well as its contribution to improving the quality of life for those who have the pleasure of experiencing it.
